One of the core passions behind The Wilderness Horticulture is the regeneration of rural farmland using endemic plant species. This project is driven by a desire to restore ecological balance, support native biodiversity, and build more climate-resilient landscapes.
We're focused on researching and trialling local plant species and innovative planting techniques that suit the region’s evolving weather conditions and water availability. Special attention is given to low-impact, long-term approaches that promote soil health and ecosystem resilience.
A key part of this work involves applying methods such as the Miyawaki forest technique—a dense, fast-growing native planting model that encourages natural regeneration, carbon capture, and habitat creation in a short period.
This project is ongoing, collaborative, and rooted in a deep respect for the land, with each planting designed to reconnect people, place, and plants in a meaningful way.
